Well it has been a slow start to the year cyclingwise, with family responsibilities and relatives to visit.

It was a balmy 10 C here today so I cut back on the winter clothing a bit, thinner baselayer and gloves, no overshoes. I had a nasty niggling headwind though and only got 6 miles when I had a double puncture. The front tyre went like a catherine wheel, with a whistling noise and I could feel the escaping air hit my leg as the tyre went round. Front had a piece of sharp glass in it, didn't find anything in the rear.

Luckily I had two spare tubes and managed to change both at the side of the road. First time to successfully use my pocket rocket, but I still haven't checked with my track pump to see what pressure I managed in the field. After that I didn't want to go too far as I didn't have any more tubes and headed home with just under 25 miles in the bag.

Feeling quite slow and lethargic. I don't know if its eating too much or fitness taken a dip, or a bit of both.

Hope your cycling is all going well - long may your wheels turn!

Shame about the punctures probably didn't do your moral any good. It was lucky you had two spare tubes.
Quote "Feeling quite slow and lethargic." unquote. Yeah, probably a bit of both. It's surprising how quickly you can slip out of condition.
At least you managed to get out for a while.
I wish you well for the rest of the year (and beyond).

Well this is getting to be a bit of a drag. Went out today - legs feeling stronger, going well and .... I snapped a front spoke.
I've never had that before and the only way I could think to get it out was remove the tube/ tyre. Got the spoke out of the hole in the rim, but it all back together and snapped the valve off the tube with my pump. Removed the tube, fitted a new one and got going only to find an alarming creaking noise from the front wheel. It's a Shimano 501, with only 20 spokes, so I gave up and called for help. Only did 22 miles from a planned 50.

Good grief. Not a good start to the year is it?
Somebody trying to tell you something?
Lets hope your troubles are out of the way now and your future rides go smoothly.
Take care
