5, thanks to attending the Scout St George's Day parade yesterday, where I learnt about Malta & Gozo.

I also got 5, would have been 4 had I not read your post before having a go

Why do we have a Greek-speaking "Turkish" Roman soldier who died in Palestine, as our patron saint. They come over 'ere, stealing our work, killing our dragons...

Was he a Royal then? ;)

Happy St Georges day to all the English on 'ere mate..........................

flake99please

We all scream for ice cream
But we dont have any dragons in the Uk

I beg to differ...

Queen Kylie maybe?

Mortimer is a name with a distinguished history IIRC

How about St Alban, Cuthbert or Hilda?

I'd recommend Dr Janina Ramirez's 'The Private Lives of the Saints' for anyone interested in this stuff...

srw

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Alban's nationality is unknown and disputed - he may well have been a Roman. Cuthbert was Scottish.

Hilda's your best bet... :okay:
St Edmund of Abingdon FTW. Or Frideswide. Or even Thomas of Canterbury, as a reminder of the evil of monarchs.
