Happy with my Univega bargain

£5 on Gumtree Liverpool.
Univega Alpina Uno.
Oversize Chromoly ovalized frame with funky 90's paint job. Altus gear set, Exage rd.
I've never owned a univega, it's a slightly small frame for me, but it's impressed me and I will tweak it to fit! Anybody owned one? I like it.

I thought 93 to 95 from what I could find out. Cleaned up nice, frame sound and surprisingly light.

I've got a '95 Univega Alpina 506 (LX/XT group)and that's butted (0.9mm/0.6mm/0.9mm) 4130 (CroMoly) main tubes.

Univega Bi-Axial power oval chromoly.
Have to be honest, don't know what that is! Nice and light though.

The down tube is oval, not round. It is oval with the long axis at the head tube but horizontal at the bottom bracket.

Ah, cro mo. A well constructed CroMo frame is one of my favourite things.

It's cleaned up nice. I've got cables, tyres and pads in shed for it. Will only have to get a longer seat post and it's good to go. Like the paint job!

It is wrong side, putting new tyres on so haven't moved anything yet. You guys got too much time on your hands!

Had an hour or two fettling time. Cleaned up, new pads, tyres and saddle. Farting about for ages to get front derailleur indexed.

On the lookout for a long silver seat post and silver quill stem & bar. Grand total spent up to now, still stands at a fiver.
