Never cared much for the Harleys, they lack subtlety and nuance that about any BMW can give. Gold Wings are neat if you want a reliable bike with few issues and great engineering and little/no soul. I kind of like the old Moto-Guzzi. The fact is that some people want one thing from a motor bike, others want something else, and the difference is what makes the bike right for you.
Lovely bikes the old Guzzi's

trust me @Drago that shock is shyte..i threw mine in the bin and fitted a real one to my Busa
mind you most shocks on mass production bikes are poor quality...

is that a old Yam ?
The shock had the advantage of being free, on account of it was lurking in my Box O' Sh**e since I fitted an Ohlins job to my 'busa in 2002. Free being my favourite price. Took a bit of machining/threatening/hitting with a hammer to make it fit, but it's on.

Yes, it's a restomod of my 1991 FZR600 3HE, 640cc race motor dyno'd at 128 ponies back in the day. Once that's finished I'll do the V-Max top to bottom too, though the Max should be an easier job as the motor is sound and tight already.

Then if you're allowed a bike, look at Triumphs and many of the emerging Scrambler style models and decide if going to buy used or finance a new one.

Tbh I think Triumph have a worse image than HD, if that is possible? They too are selling you a lifestyle with most of their range, using faux "old" designs and rocker, ace cafe, mid sixties imagery. But what do you get when you slap down your umpteen £K's? A bike made in Taiwan. Er, no thanks. At least ('cept the new 750) HD's are what they are.
