I suppose the programme must be aimed towards the younger generation Martin :girl:

I agree with Ian

...someone has to Tony - must be awful 'liking' someone who has enough material in his shirt collar to keep Ian in cassette cleaning rags for about three weeks...

(I'm just off to have a quick read of the Daily Mail - I need some new snugly bootees-in-one as winter draws on...)

C'mon, 'teef, no-one has that much material.

Harry Hill certainly doesn't...oh! You mean his shirt collar - sorry.

(No offence to goo_mason but)... do people really (still?) make choices according to channel? I'll watch anything ITV or beeb as long as I like it... really don't care what channel it's on. I remember finding it really odd at school when people told me they "weren't allowed" to watch ITV.... the same people never went to pantomimes either... or liked Carry On films...hmm, I'm starting to see a link....

There's very rarely anything on ITV tempting enough to make me watch it - other than the shows mentioned, it's wall-to-wall celeb nonsense & song'n'dance shows. Blech xx(

Not 'getting' Harry Hill's innate funniness is just like not 'getting' Oliver Hardy's, or Michael Crawford's (as Frank Spencer), or James Best's (as Rosco P Coltrane).

They've all 'got it', whatever the quality of their lines, and are experts in comedic characterisation. It's all in the finely crafted delivery, posture, movements, facial expressions, reactions, mannerisms and the working of space/camera/audience/colleagues/set/props etc; what's particularly interesting is the fact that, crucially, this is the result of detailed refinement and amplification of something that clearly comes naturally to them.

Inexplicably, though, some people really do find Oliver Hardy unfunny - and the others; but then if you need jokes to make you laugh......

Stan & Ollie - we'll never see their like again. Sad that they never show the films on telly any more - must invest in some DVDs of their finest work.
