Has anyone bought an 18 year old a successful present?

pewter tankard / engraved glass.
Very much depends on the person though, their habits/hobbies etc. and your budget too!

Do 18 year olds still wear watches? Most people I know just use their phones to tell the time now.

If it is going to be a watch, how about a smart watch/fitness tracker?

I had a bike for my 18th. A Puch Prima 12.

This is one I've seen on fleabay. Mine would be over 40 years old if I still had it.

If she has no particular needs/wants, maybe an Experience Day - Virgin or Red Letter days for something different and exciting? I got my sister a Rib trip out in the Solent which I know she will enjoy:hyper:

My lad is an amateur magician. We bought him a straight jacket for his 18th so he could escape from it.
Surprisingly expensive!
He's now 34 but still trapped!

I would go for festival tickets and a bit of spending money to go with them. I can't imagine many 18 year olds who don't enjoy a combination of music, drink and fumbling in tents.

Or go with @User76's advice.

I like beer too, but if my parents had bought me a tankard for my 18th, I'd have been pretty disenchanted!

Is 18th (or any) birthday seen as "significant" nowadays?

Lob her some cash, give her your best wishes and change the locks on your door once she goes out...
