Have I found a good way to clean my cassette?

Am I a bad person for washing my cassette in the dishwasher?

Shall we get a team ultrasonic bath?

Now that is what DID produce a great result on my chain.

1 - Be aware that the hot caustic water in a dishwasher will actually erode the surface of a polished alloy part. Guess how I know this?

2 - For a really deep clean just remove the cassette and disassemble it then clean with white spirit and a toothbrush. Obvously don't put the used toothbrush back with her bathroom stuff because it will look grubby and taste of paraffin.

Take one baby wipe, tear off a narrow strip (they tear straight in one direction) and use the strip to floss up the cassette. Assuming you've taken the wheel off, you'll find that a back and forth movement will turn the cassette round as you floss. When it's mucky, tear off another strip and repeat. It's a surprisingly satisfying way of cleaning it up.
