Is Blackburn a city? I remember the times before the city of Preston.

No, even though it has a cathedral. I think they put themselves forward for the new cities just announced, but obviously they didn't make it. If I remember rightly, Preston was made a city in 2006. Probably chosen over next door Blackburn because it's bigger, it's in the centre of Lancashire and The County Council is/are based there.

There are Cities and there are Fine Cities. I live in the latter.

York was a fine City once, just full of drunks now on a weekend getting trained in from everywhere.

Shame to see really, I've seen people at noon on a Saturday practically unable to stand up through drink, while nipping to local post office from work or on road tests.

Brings the money on though I suppose..

We were so poor when we went to Bangor. It took us 3 weeks walking with no shoes or socks. We survived by eating roadside grass along the way.
