Have you ever grassed your kids up?

Well I did make my 4 year old apologise to the bookshop owner when we had to return a book she hid under her coat. Luckily that seemed to be the end of that career option for her (that I know of).

Good for you, discipline and learning the difference between right and wrong starts at home, I put the word grassing in inverted commas because to my mind there is no such thing as being a grass when it comes to our kids. If they do wrong it is our duty to put them right, if that involves reporting your own child to the injured party then so be it, our children have to learn the error of their ways and it is our duty as parents to lead the way. My kids tell people I was / am a very strict father, I have three grown up kids who are all law abiding decent citizens so in my eyes being a strict dad has paid off.

I wouldn't use the word 'grassing' at all. It's a word of intimidation, used by criminals to threaten their peers. It is not appropriate at all for respectable classes.

I dislike the use of the word "Grass" in these circumstances, and as above it is merely an attempt to prevent the perpetrators being brought to book

I was accused of "grassing" a couple of years ago

Company van did a left hook almost taking me off.

Reported to the Police and Company

Driver was cautioned and sacked for his driving

Apparently reporting dangerous driving such as this is "grassing" and unacceptable

Is it unacceptable to report bad driving?

So who dobbed in your Daughter to you for you to become aware?!

Skiving off School was brilliantly edgy for me it was so nerve wracking it wasn't really worth it but the feeling of getting one over everyone over came the fear on the few occasions I did it. Don't think I would have contacted the School I would have taken some pleasure from seeing how far they could continue the lie with leading questions in the evening before I let them know I knew and then dealt with the skiving and then the deceit it is the latter that irks me the most. Surprised they can still get away with it, my kids school is in virtual lock down they couldn't even if they wanted too.

Ooops, I'm clearly not respectable then!

Actually she did herself. I was surprised when she said she was finishing school early as she didn't usually have that many early finishes in one week. I asked to see her timetable and she refused. I said 'you have lessons don't you? ' and she owned up straight away. She said it wasn't a big deal, she was doing well in that lesson and it was only once. I think it was her blithe attitude that annoyed me more.

The sixth form isn't like that, they can pretty much come and go as they please but the rest of the school is like fort knox.
