I've met Adam Clayton from U2, Jensen Button (in Islington), Sir David Attenborough (at my University where he was getting an honorary Doctorship) and Martin Fry from ABC (he was a member of a gym I used to work at)

:smooch:I met Toyah Wilcox a couple of times in Edinburgh (I've carried a torch for her since 1981).

Gordon Brown and the late Iaiin Banks in the village. J.K Rowling when I was going to do some seminars at the Uni in Edinburgh,.

I didn't speak to her but Faye Tozer (from Steps) walked past me in the Crown pub in Belfast the week before last. I'm not a Steps fan, but she is very striking.
My cousin's(Lisa Ballantyne) first book was a best seller - , so she is a bit famous.

Don't laugh but I have met all of the Barron Knights, Leslie Crowther and Michael Bentine.
My friend's dad met Matthew Kelly in a car park in Bournemouth.
Is there anyone you'd like to meet?

What is the nature of fame and does it deserve respect?

I would argue not.

Popularity is no virtue, and fame is rarely uncontrived.

It all rather depends on how the person aquired fame and/or popularity. Someone posted earlier theyed met Douglas Bader. I think that hes deserves respect. ( unpleasant though he appeared to be to a friend of mine who met him)

Have you bought the Christmas single?

http://www.hot40uk.com/christmas/2014/john-otway/

Oh and as a reminder, The DTs are playing in January.
Yeah I was having a chat with Simon at the Gerry McAvoy 'Band Of Friends' Gig a couple of months back, He's playing with the new band before Christmas but I can't afford both gigs.
The DT's are actually a bit of a local band for me as I grew up in Enderby where the original Guitarist 'Big Al Taylor' grew up as well and they formed when still at school in Lutterworth the school we all went to from that area. My cousin was in their year and all the village kids hung around together pretty much so I've known Alan since I was about 6.
It was through them I had a few drinks and a chat with Steve Marriott at the time when he played with them but by then Al had left and Steve Walwyn had joined (later to go on to join Dr Feelgood)

Please note this thread is just a bit of fun.
I don't buy celebrity magazines, nor do I follow them. People become famous for all sorts of reasons. They are just human beings in the end. Status, fame and wealth are fickle things.
I do watch television sometimes and listen to the radio so I'm not immune to celebrities.
I met Mike Burrows a few years ago and he showed me around his workshop.

Gok Wan is staying in the flat next to mine at the moment, because he's starring in a panto at the Mayflower in Southampton. I said hello as he passed me on the landing. I didn't mention that his name is an anagram to him, I'm sure he's aware already.
