Have you ever walked into a glass door ?

A long time ago. Our venture scouts were staying in a school near Cheddar Gorge. Being 16 year old halfwits, we were messing around in the school in the dark and one of the lads ran through a 6ft sq panel of georgian wired glass. He left a silhouette like Wylie Coyote. Apart from a bruised elbow, not a mark on him. School Caretaker was a star, put it down to a little mishap. we thought we were (deservedly) getting the bill.

I bet someone would not have been impressed if it had been old and valuable glass!

Back in the 1980s (in the days before toughened glass), one of my brother's friends, who was around for a playdate, ran straight through our patio doors. I seem to remember there was quite a lot of claret, but that he was remarkably and mercifully relatively unscathed.

Not quite the same, but as a kid, we had a model railway in the loft and the son of a family friend would often come and play on it with me.

Anyway, this day, his little sister came up into the loft, but on leaving, she somehow fell through the drop down hatch of the loft, landing on the floor below (imagine the height in a standard home and she was about 6 at the time).

Not much claret, just lots of crying and she did break her Collar Bone, presumably from quite literally going head - first through it.

This rental property has a big walk-in shower in the corner of the bathroom. Two sides are tiled walls, the other two are huge glass panels.

The glass panels were immaculate when I moved in. I had my first shower then went to get out, forgetting that there was a (barely visible) glass panel in my way. I face-planted on it, bounced off, then slipped on the soapy shower tray and ended up in a crumpled heap. Fortunately, neither I nor the glass panel were damaged!

I bought some mats for the shower to stop me slipping over again. I don't completely clean the glass panels - I leave a few watermarks on the panels to remind me that they are there.

Back in 1960 (even further before toughened glass!) one of my sister's friends (about 9 years old) tripped and went straight through a glass panel on an internal door in our house. She was badly cut but I don't think there was more damage than that.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
For a hideously accident prone klutz I'm proud (and surprised) to be able to answer"no"

I've twice ended up in A&E for stitches to lintel-inflicted injuries. But glass doors? No.

Some time ago I was working at a big corporation HQ with lots of glass-doored (and walled) meeting rooms. One spontaneously broke with a bang during a meeting involving a colleague of mine. It was laminated so it didn't shatter everywhere, but the door was jammed and un-openable. The fire brigade had to get them out

Coming home from secondary school on a 1960s Leyland Leopard, long past it best before date by then, the driver hit a pothole and the large pane of (I would have assumed toughened) glass behind the driver's seat shattered. He had glass down the neck of his shirt and was quite badly cut from it.

Today he could probably claim for a workplace related injury!

At University I was about to go through a glass swing door when I heard my name. Turned round and then back and door swung into my face smashing my glasses. Had my eyes checked and washed out to ensure no glass in them.

Friend of mine did while young on holiday in Slovakia where her mum is from...door had been open and they'd been running in and out all day...then someone closed it. Very bad cut to her leg, extremely lucky not to do a major artery and bleed to death!
