Arch! She was on a DF and rode past us as we waited at the lights in York. I also rode past Tony Blair a few years ago. He was on his way to meet GW Bush at Sedgefield racecourse where Marine 1 was landing.

A few weeks ago on the commute home, there was a bit of a snarl up caused by police motorbikes stopping all traffic at the bottom of Liberton Brae. A couple then sped along the way I had come to Toll Cross, soon followed by a big car flying the royal standard with a Landrover close on it's heels.

Does the queen's car count. I didn't get to look inside as a) it was too fast and b) the windows may have been tinted so I can't be certain that anyone royal was onboard.

The Pope passed me 2 weeks ago while I stopped at a set of lights outside Stockwell Station ...... He wasnt on a bike thou.......AND he went through a red light !!!!! Who would have thought it ...... the Pope is a RLJ !!!!

About 8 years ago, was riding back out of Northants heading for home (Warwickshire) when I saw Robert Millar going the other way. I had heard that he lived in a small village that way, but it was still a sighting that was subsequently mentioned many times on the Sunday run.

I saw a political commentator off the beeb telly in Ludlow once. Can't remember his name. He usually gets trotted out at election times. Fat barsteward with double chin. Think he usually works for one of the nationals.

Used to see the Archbishop of York quite regularly shuttling between his palace and the Minster. I'm fairly sure he wasn't a helmet wearer, but I could be wrong, he mitre been.

Sadly the current one, altho' sound on many things, doesn't seem to be a cyclist.

I saw Phil Liggett in a local pub once, as did the rest of the WNRttP.

Shared a table with him and his mates during the Phil and Friends a few years back.

I think the replies show the question wasn't London centric. Why should anyone feel famous people are only in Lunnun?

Personally, no. But I dont care for celebrities very much. I doubt I would recognise most of them.

Wasnt there a YouTube vid of someone seeing Russell Howard crossing the road while they were waiting at lights?

And what's wrong with Jimmy Carr!?

Saw Michael Jackson lots of times- he was the village's Catholic priest for 25 years though I never met him and Mick Jagger's lived next door since he retired from teaching about 12 years ago. Worked with Dawn French for about 10 years and she bought my mum's car when she was the RIBA North Regional Director.... how famous do you want?
