Hi,

I am looking at building a 'spare' road bike. At the moment it has 1" threaded forks. If I wish to use 1" 'A' head type carbon forks, can I just use 1" threadless headset. Replace the whole unit and thats it.......Or am I missing something!!!!

Secondly, the spare bike had down tube shifters! Is there an adaptor so I can use 'new' changers on the bars and have the cable stop adjusters mounted on the old shifter position.

Cheers

yes and yes, various bolt on cable guides, SJS Cycles will have a few and plenty of threadless 1" headsets around, I used a BBB one.

Conversion to STI style shifters is a lot easier and neater if the DT shifters are bolted direct on to mounts on the down-tube. If the DT shifters are the old "band-on" style your options are rather limited.
