Gas boilers are terrible you'll get faulty equipment & headaches. One day they'll stop pushing them as they are known to give off poisonous fumes..

"Gas boilers produce combustion by-products such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide, which can lead to serious health issues including headaches, dizziness, respiratory problems, and even carbon monoxide poisoning. Proper ventilation and regular maintenance are essential to minimise exposure to these harmful gases."

Not to mention the cr*p you get from a log burner

It makes your house safe. Only a bit of pollution outside maybe.
There will also be pollution inside the house produced by the combustion (as long as the boiler is in the house, which most are). Some asthma sufferers find their symptoms ease massively once the dirty fossil gas burner is replaced.

I’ve worked in the ASHP industry and the failure rates are high. Also very expensive systems still.
Oh yeah, failure rates are high if you get them installed by cowboys and there's far too many of them. Neither MCS nor Ofgem seem to have any interest in weeding them out, and the prices paid seem often disconnected from the probability of cowboys - if anything, the cowboys seem more likely to quote a high price if they don't really want the job. At the moment, it's being left to the market for the likes of Heat Geeks to be what MCS and Ofgem should be, but that has a cost currently passed on to the customer on top of the bog standard, limiting take-up.

That said, I don't rate corgi for gas either. Far too many gas heating installers mess up the design and then cover it up by whacking in a higher-power burner, but at some point gas will become too expensive and people will realise they've been mugged off.

The hot water cylinders are made of cheap duplex. Badly back purged. Not very good welding either. Many will leak!

Not our cylinder, which is still high-grade steel from a big brand with a long guarantee, but I do wonder what some cowboys are installing... but again, there are gas and oil cowboys too and they're much more likely to kill people.
