ive always loved the carbon wheels ,had a chance to buy one mega cheap and thought it looked pretty trick ,if id have got a pair then theyd have been on the damocles, but just one looks cool on the s/s, made the handling really sharp on the front too

Sharp? Don't you mean twitchy in headwinds (self generated or not).

Is that chain tight enough?

Looks awful with those mismatched wheels imo, also dont see how a 50mm carbon front wheel would improve handling unless your old wheel was a spaghetti hoop. A deeper rim is a compromise between handling and (mostly straight line) speed, faster given the right conditions, but handling suffers as a flip side, due to side winds etc. 50mm is probly not so bad, but certainly noticable over a "normal" rim. Seat looks low given the ratio of seat height to top tube length too.

I wouldn't say it looks awful, I think that's harsh tbh, (but I appreciate its only an opinion). I would have left the front wheel standard. I think the cf is unnecessary, (mind you I think all cf is unnecessary!), and I just don't go for the 'hipster' fakenger look myself. Would be a perfectly decent looking bike with matching wheels though.

People are just fooling.

Anything you build up yourself and enjoy riding is a Ferrari among rusty Fiats.

My fixie looks a complete dog, but I made it and I love it.

Still think that chain isn't quite right...
