That got your attention. I'm thinking of buying a helmet but don't want to get started on protection or lack of offered by a helmet. My question is different. I currently wear a cap when out on the bike. I sweat. A lot. No really a lot. Would the airflow provided by a helmet help with this? It's mainly when I stop say at my half way turning point, sweat just pours off me and covers my glasses. Any thoughts?

Also the missus has issued a stipulation that it can't stink out the hallway

Unlikely IMO. They may have some vents but the main body is usually made of basically the same stuff as cavity wall insulation.

Wouldn’t this be better in the Components, Accessories and Clothing forum?
There’s a better chance of a range of answers there than in this contentious dungeon.

My experience is that even a well-vented helmet made me sweat more than wearing a cap or buff on my head.

I remember you wearing a helmet back in the day. Which one was it?
I've forgotten. It wasn't a well known make, they were trying to make it into the pro peloton and failed. I think it began with V. It was binned long ago because of the smell

Until recently I used Planet X/ Carnac helmets, mostly the Notus: Decent fit and good value (cheap), though for some reason it always seemed to leak copious amounts of water when I took it off. Some time earlier this year, I purchased a Kask Mojito and the ventilation on it is excellent, I still sweat, but it is much less and more pleasant.

I am a heavy sweater, if its very warm I don't wear a helmet for this reason, I do have a couple, a Specialised Prevail and a Kask Mojito.

The Specialised doesn't seem as warm as the Kask, they are a different shape and the Specialised is lighter.

One last question, does anyone cycle with no head covering at all? Does that help with the sweating?
