Call me old fashioned, but I'd wear the helmet on my head.

If you mean a three wheeler, then in the motorbike world, I don't think helmets are compulsory for three wheelers, so it must be considered that there is less risk. So I would say there must be less risk with cycle recumbents. But it must depend on an individuals riding style and terrain and own assessment/choice.

Provided the wheels are 46 or more cm apart on the same axle, then correct. In that scenario I'd still lid up though - gravity doesn't hurt any the less simply because youfe been knocked off a trike.

I always were a helmet on the Catrike because It is definitely possible to tip a trike. It’s also possible to be rear ended or side swiped, so I’d prefer to have some head protection. My GoPro type camera is helmet mounted (which gives a much smoother picture than when it’s bike mounted). I also have a helmet mounted Cree type torch which I find extremely useful for aiming towards cars waiting to emerge from side junctions (it’s not on its brightest setting so doesn’t dazzle, but I’m positive it’s stopped people pulling out on a few occasions). Finally, I have a baldy head so it keeps my noggin nice and warm and dry!
