Help with Garmin 800

You only get an average speed once you press start, to tell it you want to start tracking your ride. Dont forget to press stop when you fi ish the ride.

That's weird

It shows me my average and last lap average (I set it to lap each mile ) and it calculates both on the fly

Think you may be on to something there gaz, if I do 20 miles or 80 miles it counts it as just 1 lap. Maybe if I set for a mile as you have it may solve the puzzle? I'll give that a try.

Put that into my device but not had chance to try it out yet

You can see my average speed and last lap average are next to each other in this picture, both update as I ride, hope it helps

i have had a look at the manual and i can see that you can add data fields which i will do, but at the moment the second screen has an average speed data field but doesnt show anything

David, i can confirm that the settings i described a few posts above definately work. I could see the avg speed varying as i changed the pace

as far as i am aware nothing would work if i didnt press start and everything does apart from average speed
