Have we moved on from speaker cable yet? I wanted to get us to bi-amping:rolleyes:

My love of Hi-fi isn't quite what it was, but I am lucky that I invested well while younger (and richer) and have enough reasonable kit to keep me happy. I do have a nice pair of B&W speakers in the loft gathering dust. The only compensation is that I have the floor standers in my office ensuring that I have good quality sounds.:wahhey:

What kind of life is it when you can have floor standing speakers in your office??

I have a stereo of some description in the garage for when I am tinkering cars or bikes. Along with the front room and also a decent system in our breakfast room, albeit hooked up to far too small speakers - when will Mrs O recognise that sometimes it is worth sacrificing the aesthetics to get better quality sound, hence the B7W gathering dust in the loft. Come to think of it I have another paid of old speakers in there somewhere too. That's 4 sets of speaks for 2 systems. Really ought to clear things out more often...

Music is important in life.

The Glue that binds us together.
Am well happy with my Naim amp and CD player, running through chord chorus speaker cables going into B&W floor standing speakers,
the lower end of the Naim gear, have had it for about 8 years know, and i wind it up every weekend, lovely.

It always amazes me the new laws of physics qnd scientific advances produced by the hi fi engineers. For some reason they don't seem to get much of a look in when the Nobel prizes come round each year. i bet the academic scientists don't want to share so have a consipracy to rubbish the hifi developments. That said, given the profit margin on the latest rare metal cables, the hifi boys are probably making more money

As an electronics engineer working in the high end hifi industry I'm often amused and entertained with regard to the lengths people will go (and what they will spend) to achieve what they perceive to be a better sound.

However, one recent build I did for a customer involved using 4 of our 100W mono blocks bi-amped to a pair of high efficacy speaker columns. I must confess, the sound was superb, even for a cynic like me.

PS. I think the speaker cables cost about £40 and I consider that a bit over the top.

you have to wonder
£13k speaker cable ... and it is used too!!!

I can understand having fairly chunky cable since your amps can be pumping out several amps but something like that, doesn't make sense to me.
