I've booked a flight to Austria to see a friend in late August, we're planning a little cycle along the Danube.
Booked a package tour to Senegal for a week in mid November for some winter r&r
Think that's it for 2026 with 5 holidays planned!

Cycling along the Danube is great @vickster. There are boats to take you from one side to the other when a nice café beckons.

Week-End in London early March mainly to see the Hold Steady at the Electric Ballroom on the Friday and Saturday nights.

Otherwise probably a couple of last minute camping trips.

Just got back from 4 nights in Iceland.
Amazing place, so much to see.
But it is expensive.
Northern Lights was an absolute highlight. We got very lucky with clear skies and strong electrical activity. The photographs make it look better than it was, but even with the naked eye it was majestic and filled the whole sky, just more green grey than bright green.

We will be in Iceland in august, so little chance of a sky like that 😕

should be a good trip though. We start in Finland and travel north by train, and then coach, to Kirkenes. Hurtigruten cruise/ferry from there down to Bergen and then fly to Reykjavik for the final part. We’ve been warned, and you’ve confirmed, about the cost but hey, we’re SKIing…

You will get very short nights.
Zero chance of seeing the lights.
But the scenery will be fantastic.

Summer holiday booked - just a week in Lincolnshire for SWMBO and myself due to needing to be in the UK due to elderly parents.

I'm now going to firm up tour options in July/August for a short tour in the UK or elsewhere.

Working on our trip to the UK at the moment. Last year, TransPennine were having problems running trains between Manchester Airport and York. Have things improved since then, or should I brave the Heathrow and the Piccadilly Line?

OK, so the latest in the figbat family final once-in-a-lifetime holiday plans.

Recap:
First it was a western Canada fly-drive - vetoed by teenagers who “don’t want to spend the whole time sitting in a car looking at mountains”.

Next was Hawaii - vetoed because it’s the USA and we’re just not going there as things currently stand.

Then was Tahiti, Fiji etc - vetoed because all connecting flight options went through LAX (which is USA, see above).

Now we’re closing in on the Seychelles. We normally plan and book everything ourselves, using things like AirBnB or other direct booking options, plus flights and car hire etc. However to put together a multi-island itinerary ourselves was getting overwhelming so we engaged a ‘travel consultant’ who have rather rapidly created a great-sounding plan for us which we’re getting close to approving.

This is our last family holiday, it comes after some difficult times in the household, involving involuntary termination of work and a parental bereavement plus there is the impending culmination of our kids’ studies (GCSEs and a C&G advanced diploma), which has led us to say “sod it” and just do it. I recognise that we’re lucky to have to time and funds to pursue this; the last several years have been in a caravan somewhere in England.

So fingers crossed this is the last iteration.
