Just booked a week in Filey early August, a Haven holiday caravan.
Not really my kind of holiday and my hearts not really in it but it'll be good for the kiddos.
Youngest (5) was an absolute mare last summer but I think the sensory overload in arcades etc was too much for her.
We had 5 days earlier this year in similar surroundings and with limiting time in overload potential areas, she did a lot better...so hopefully this year she will cope a lot better.

Lots of great coast, few arcades. If at the Primrose one, the place is steeped in history. Hi-Di-Hi staff chalets, the Art Deco building and even signs of the tunnel through to the old Butlins train station.

We were in Filey this week with my daughter. She absolutely adored it and spent four hours doing cartwheels on the beach, hunting crabs on the Brig, digging in the sand and looking for shells. We never went near the Arcade.

Yep, lovely innit
The best place to be (the beach) but inevitably (for them), they love the glitz and bright lights of an arcade, but thats for a small.proportion of each evening. Ironically, the last couple years away with them hasn't blessed us with good beach weather, hopefully this year ?

Take wipes to clean hands etc after the arcades. Thats how I picked up the lurgy in early May at a Haven, and thats when it wasn't busy as kids still in school. But, then again, my bug resistance to young kids is well gone (mine are 23 and 25). It's great for the kids though, bit of early evening entertainment, beach, can't go far wrong.

Short break coming up for 3 nights camping at a new motorhome/camper site in Llangollen. There for two concerts; Deacon Blue supported by Lightining Seeds and Tom Grennan on a second night. Not going to stand at the front like the time we saw Madness, deaf for a week after. Worth being less than 10ft from Suggs and the band though.

Will be calling into Recycled Kit shop for some cycling kit bargains (worth a visit if you are passing). Located adjacent to the bridge and The Bridge pub. Can't miss the jerseys.

Get some musicians ear plugs, we use them at gigs and festivals, they take about 10dB off the volume and the music often sounds better.

Planned for this year: volunteer stewarding at 2 festivals, 8 day cycle tour in the Netherlands with friends, then NZ to visit family.

I saw the Lightining Seeds last year, they were supporting Echo and the Bunnymen at Glasgow. They were brilliant.
