I pass some of these freaks occasionally on my commute.

To be honest they were rather boring animals. They didn't do anything, just ate and slept and well errr hopped about a bit.
Apparently they're incredibly dumb animals. I remember reading somewhere about what a nightmare it was filming Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, because unlike, say, dogs, you just cannot get a wallaby to do anything to order. You just have to wait until they do something approximately right, and if necessary re-jig the script around what you've actually managed to catch on film

Wallaby is lovely - low fat. low cholesterol and quite tender. You need to cook it quickly (as per steak), and a mushroom or red wine sauce goes well with it, or it needs to be long and slow cooking - and you can use a nice porter (chocolate porter is good) or a spicy red wine in the pot.

For those in Cambridgeshire, I can recommend Johnsons of Old Hurst or if you want online dealers, I can recommend Exotic Meats :hungry:
Lidl was doing kangaroo steaks a little while ago but I missed them at the time. Is wallaby pretty much the same?

Mmm. I've had all sorts of deer and ostrich in SA but don't think I've had kangaroo or wallaby.
