i have a big book of British Mammals which includes Wallabies - a few hundred of them descended from escapees fro Whipsnade I recall. Each animal is sumarised under various headings: size, weight etc, and "easily confused with" which says "the wallaby cannot conceivably be confused with any other creature" The book is British mammals remember

I've had more than one person point to our Spanish greyhound Galgos (bigger bodied and longer face than British greyhound) and call them Kangaroos.

My cats confused the wallaby for a large mouse, and promptly kacked themselves.

But have you tried eating them?

Not the birds, but green parakeet egg omelette is quite nice especially if you get a few decent sized embryos in there.

I know exactly how you would have felt at the time. Some years ago I was hiking in Washington State, when I spotted what I first thought to be a large bear. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough with my camera, but it looked just like this.

There are at least two herds of these south of Birmingham. One is towards Alvechurch, you can see the other from the train to Banbury.

I've been told there are green parrots in one of my local parks but I've never seen them.

Lidl was doing kangaroo steaks a little while ago but I missed them at the time.

Were they intentionally selling them, or was it another 'horse meat' scandal?

Very good! Lildl's fresh meat is quite good. Their fillet steak is a whole lot cheaper than Waitrose and I can't tell the difference. The kangaroo was frozen I think but I never got to taste it. I'll seek out a wallaby.

I'm not sure where in Midlandshire you are Drago but a group of wallabies escaped from a wildlife park near Bewdley on the River Severn about twentyfive years ago, so they may be part of that bunch of escapees.
