How can Donhou charge £2300 for an off the shelf 853 frame?

Donhou does have London overheads, exhibition stands, an appealing web site, very flowery sales speak which looks bought in from a marketing wallah, demo bikes for the press....all these are very costly for a small frame builder. Good luck to him. I just wouldn't choose to subsidise his expenditure.

he should go and set-up somewhere cheaper and charge a reasonable price for his mediocre frames. I've got a frame that was hand built for myself 35yrs ago that looks and probably performs the same if not better than that......and the paint scheme is definitely better.....

Why would he want to?

If they weren't selling, then that's a fair option, but clearly they are.

Anywaaaayy...if I had the money to spend I might buy one...I quite like it...the food comparison is the best analogy for me...we can all live off a diet of rice, cheese, carrots and water but we don't...because we don't want to. To me the question is not why this frame is expensive, but why is double the price of a bespoke frame in 853 from any one of the top builders: Argos, woodrup, rourke et al.

Interesting reading and a nice bike (not sure about the down tube colours) but when somebody states "You get what you pay for" I always remind them of this quote " A fool and his money are easily parted" ie you don't always get what you pay for, that's not saying if you like it don't buy it, if you have the cash and its what you want go for it.
