Long black with fresh ground beans first thing in the morning, only tend to have one cup most days.
Only me drinks coffee in the house, so I buy 250g bags (local roaster), so they're not going stale.

Mellow Birds, plenty of milk and enough sugar.

Two a day, one with breakfast and one after evening meal.

Always strong, black filter coffee. Haven't suffered an instant coffee (is it even coffee?) in decades.

Never taint or, indeed, ruin, the beautiful coffee with milk or sugar, or whatever else, weird stuff is put in it nowadays....

Hey, you got to be a snob about something in life, not just cycling.

Two a day, one with breakfast and one after evening meal.

Seeing that has reminded me that normally, my quota is four cups, with the last consumed before ~1700 and starting no earlier than ~0930 on a good day these days. But when I'm feeling like death, i might have a fifth and drink it as late as ~1800. Started this around '22 iirc.

I used to have a strong cup of instant (typically Gold Blend, can't stand it since long covid began) almost every hour I was awake on days off work when I was at home (rather than say on a multi hour ride), from ~0530 until 1700.

When I started as a postie in late '09, my part time hours were spread over five days, but in '10 iirc they were condensed into three days... So easily ~50+ cups per week (including one first thing on work days and at least a couple after work) for best part of 12 years!   :hyper:

Speaking of the effects of strong coffee, in my ( much ) younger years I was preparing for an against the clock endurance run. Knowing that I would inevitably be absolutely knackered during the latter stages I had six weeks without caffeine in the lead up to the event. During the latter stages I had a black coffee made with two heaped spoons of coffee. The effect was almost immediate and very noticeable, almost as though someone had stuck a needle in my arm. It certainly gave me a ( relatively short lived) boost. It was also a one off, as another dose later had little discernible effect ☕️☕️

Black, no sugar, pretty strong.

At home I use a large mug, with two teaspoons of Kenco Millicano instant, or a cafetiere with pre-ground coffee.

In work we have a bean-to-cup machine, and with the current beans, I get one americano and an espresso in the one mug.

When out anywhere else, it is a black Americano. I don't mind the fact they usually give a small jug of milk, because my wife likes her coffee milky, and the one jug often isn't as much as she would like.

You do know that Costa is linked to the dark side. It's owned by Coca-Cola.

Not to be confused with the vastly superior company known as the Costarica Coffee Company. Late of St Mary Street, Cardiff.

I have to admit I had no clue. I only ever go in a Costa if I meet my mom. She won't drink in independent coffee shops as she says the coffee is too strong. A large one shot latte is her speed, basically hot milk with a touch of coffee 😂

It's ok as long as someone else is drinking it,Give me a cup of tea, at least that always tastes the same. coffee is different everytime you have one in coffee shops. mostly bitter .

I've got a good coffee machine with integrated grinder and milk frother etc so I make my coffee to my exact taste and issue whenever I go out for coffee is it's almost always not as good as I can make myself.

At the local garden centre cafe, my wife always used to order an Americano.

Until it dawned on her that an expresso topped up with hot water was almost indistinguishable, at about half the cost ...

Mine's usually a latte, though I have to remember never to order one in Italy.
