The police never did trace the vehicle despite a request through local media.
On reflection, I shouldn't have been riding so fast and now descend more gingerly.
A check of the Garmin showed I was doing 50 when I parted ways with the bike.
If you were going west to east, then that would be Greenhow hill into Pateley Bridge. That's where I witnessed THIS!The answer to your question then - I have only once managed to break through the 50 mph mark, and that was while doing the Way of the Roses, going down a long hill somewhere near Grassington. I was on a Specialized Tricross with some extra luggage weight to assist. I think it was only a Carradice saddle bag, but well packed.
OK, @Pat "5mph" if you insist.I think @Scoosh has a picture to show on this thread
Same downhill (on Arran, it was) I did about 25mph: I'm such a wuss that I walked down the Struggle in the Lake District for fear of crashing![]()
It wasn't there; it was the time I did it east to west and the hill was slightly off the official route as I was heading to my B&B in Grassington. If you were going west to east, then that would be Greenhow hill into Pateley Bridge. That's where I witnessed THIS!
I used to have ideas of trying to do 60 mph downhill, and then of course, I might as well go for 100 kph since that is just a little bit faster ...I am losing my appetite for it now. I still hit 50 mph from time to time but that will do me. I take Warfarin so if I come off at any significant speed there is likely to be LOTS of bleeding!
44.7 mph down beacon hill recorded with my incredibly inaccurate mobile phone according to @Supersuperleeds who's top speed I beat. Wouldnt want to do much faster
