The peppery smell of tomatoes has to be one of the very best.

Here in Oz we don't usually plant until late September.
Then we have to keep the water up or they don't do well at all.
What variety have you got there Sweet Pea?

One of Summer's delights every year is tomato plants near the back door in a south-facing raised bed against the fence. Basil, and this year Rocket at their feet. The Cherry toms rarely make it into the house the larger ones, chopped with fresh basil, a sprinkle of EV olive oil, and a nice Balsamic is something we never tire of.

This year's tomato harvest looks like being a complete disaster. Couldn't get plants or even seeds due to lockdown, what we scrounged from friends were planted in growbags as an experiment which has been the real disaster. The plants got scorched during May's sunshine then the fruit rots at the bottom when it's cooler. I'm holding out for something from three plants that were grown from seeds bought the day B+Q opened again, which were planted out in the soil.
