Following on from @speccy1 and the moving house thread, what was the cost of your first abode?

Ours was a 2 bedroom "luxury" apartment with gold taps (that wore off), a swanky granite topped kitchen, a small balcony, a leylandii hedge that had the Paddington- Penzance main line right behind it. It was in a development of 18 flats in 2 buildings. Ours was the top floor... With no lift!

Bought in 1992 for £40,000, sold in '95 for £50,000. Back then we thought that would buy you the moon on a stick. Wouldn't get you the stick nowadays!

Small modern semi in East Yorkshire village, 1982, £17000. Sold in 1985 for 21000. There are beach huts going for less in Norfolk!

My first was a two bedroom flat with a garage in 2001, paid £45K for it. Sold that in 2007 for £120K

Bought and sold the next house for £155K, 2007 and 2011 respectively, and then bought the one I have now for £165K, others nearby are selling for £200K, so quite happy!

Possibly the only person on here who bought a property in the 80's, kept it for 3 years, then sold it - at a loss .
A Barratt (cue the jokes re STD's) "studio flat" in Port Glasgow. Bought for about £14500 in 1986, including carpets, curtains, and fridge/washing machine/cooker!
Sold in 1989 for £12500. To be fair, I think they are going for even less now.

A two bedroom 3 story town house in Lewisham with subsidence issues cause by the '76 drought bought in 1980 for £19K.
I still own it today, it's been rented out since 1988, but I could flog it tomorrow for over £350K even with the subsidence issues.

2-bed victorian mid-terrace in Southend on Sea, bought in 1990 for £44k. Can't actually remember what we sold it for. Might have to go check Zoopla now, to satisfy my curiosity! Haven't moved since the move from there to Leigh on Sea, into an £89,995 semi... hmm, another one to check on Zoopla
