There's only one way the human race can survive sustainably in the long term and its to stop breeding at the rate we do. It's come to a stage now with our planet, we taking all kinds of desperate measures to stop its destruction. Renewable energy , Climate change bills and better modes of transportation. The list goes on and on ( a bit like me lol :-),
At the end of the day though, all these measures are just "sticky plasters" and are only slowing down to inevitable. Even with all these measures ,I think our ever increasing population will become the final nail in the coffin for us. The earth can only sustain a certain amount of as beings, before we outstrip it of its ability to provide us with our needs to survive in the lifestyle were accustomed to.
With our inbuilt human nature ,we will be fighting for precious resources as they become scarce. It's already started really when you look at the plight of some regions of the world. Mass starvation and racial tensions were populations are ever more driven to live together in regions that are deemed as more stable.
If there was a controlled global breeding law we could at least have the chance of making our planet and renewable technologies work for us for the long term. Doom and gloom aghhhh time for a beer :-)
