How much would you pay for this bike?

I'm thinking of buying a second-hand bike. The local web ad has this one on it:

I'm thinking the asking price is fairly high. How much would you pay for it?

Interesting...Ebay always seems to get higher prices than I'd expect for bikes - the South-East bidder effect?

Aye! No, I mean things are cheaper in Scotland because, on average, people earn less. But if someone in Scotland punts a bike on ebay people from all over the UK including the south-east, where people generally earn a fair amount more, can bid higher.

It used to be the case that wages were higher in the SE but with national pay scales and a lower cost of living up there, disposable income may be higher.

I used to go to auctions in the line of work and a mad fever got hold of people who ended up paying well over the odds. They saw it as a defeat if they were outbid and I suspect the same machismo occurs on ebay.

bikes on ebay do tend to go for too much IMO - i was looking at a carrera subway 2, it went for 178 pound, and 25 delivery, it was apparently only 3 weeks old, and only 25 miles on it, but hey, you can get it from halfords for 200!!!!!- and many others were also too much..
