Slightly nicked from an old blog post, but possibly worth a chuckle:
  1. Constantly compare yourself to other cyclists
  2. Talk to your family about what you do and expect them to cheer you on
  3. Base the success of your entire cycling career on one Sunday ride
  4. Stick with what you know, despite constantly asking for advice on forums
  5. Undervalue your ability, or worse, overvalue your ability
  6. Let money dictate what you ride
  7. Bow to vehicular pressures while on the open road
  8. Only go on rides that include at least ten Strava segments
  9. Do whatever the cycling magazines/ guides/ instructional books tell you to do
  10. Set unachieveable/ overwhelming goals, to be accomplished by tomorrow

11. Read the posts on this forum and view all the helmet cam footage about bad driving, near misses, abuse, hostility and assorted accidents.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
13. After weeks of heavy rain, including having your town flooded twice, the sun finally comes out. Fantastic Brit results in the Tour de France are followed by more superb cycling in the only home Olympics in your lifetime. After 2 or 3 years of lost cycling mojo, the desire to really get stuck in on the bike has finally returned ...

Then you come down with a feckin' chest infection so severe that you can barely walk, let alone ride your bike...! :cursing:

I'm guilty of 1, 4 and 6
1, I just can't help, there are so many of "you" overtaking me all the time.
4, I am getting help with.
and 6 - is there a way round this one??
Most of the time I'm just happy to be a cyclist, even if I'm a slow one on an old lady bike annoying pensioners.

I'm sticking with my mudguards and old steel bikes and I'd advise everyone on here to do the same.

This new-fangled aluminium stuff, it won't last, you mark my words.

2. Maybe you need to change your family
3. Just pick the right sunday ride! Forget that Wiggo was on a recovery ride you dropped him on that long uphill drag :hyper:
4. Being mr consistency is always a good thing.. just keep telling your self this
5. What, this is just a learning experience!
6. Money will always dictate what you ride. You know you want to be riding that £20k bike but reality is your budget limited
7. I understand the words individually but together they don't compute
8. Unless yo're aiming for PBs what's the point in going on a ride?
9. see point 4
