have another look at the photo, it wasn't that chain I was asking about ^_^

@KnackeredBike I have been on Armadillos for a while, they eventually delaminate and start to sound very strange before going bang, I had one that split when riding - what a fright - thankfully it was the rear.
Am now on Marathon Plus - they seem to be the business , 3000 mile, still look like new and no punctures (famous last words) Downside they are difficult to get on when new.
Famous last words indeed - I had 3 punctures within 3,000 miles last year despite using Marathon pluses. I was probably just a bit unlucky, but replaced them with Specialized All Condition Armadillos anyway, which are supposed to be puncture resistant (but don't make any implicit "puncture proof" claims - in fairness, Schwalbe don't either, but people who rave about M+ often seem to, hence my bitter disappointment after my experience), they have less tread and seem to roll better, no problems as yet - perhaps even more famous last words :becool:

Bad luck plays a big part even with the best tyres.
Last year with the same tyres i got 5 all year over more than 5000 miles , had 9 this year already even with fastidious checking etc

I do my own stunts
End to this story, went to pump up my tyres today and realised that the rubber was so thin over the casing that chunks were starting to come away and the rest of it wasn't far behind. Nonetheless it survived the six miles to Halfords and back. £27 lighter (and then buggering up my saddle for free). Hopefully this one will be as good as the previous incumbent.

I agree with several folk above who advocate running tyres into the ground until you start getting regular punctures. Do keep an eye on the sidewalls though as this system can push them to the end of their life.

I realise some folk chuck tyres well before this, and never patch a tube. If they could step forward the rest of our runemintotheground merry tribe need never buy another tube or tyre again.
