How to weigh a bicycle?

How would I weigh a bicycle? apart from sticking it on the bathroom scale.

stand on scales holding it, note weight, put bike on floor, note weight, then do the maths.

But not if you weigh 115kg and your scales only go to 120kg.

Strip it into component parts, and weigh each piece on kitchen scales. Don't forget to allow for grease and lubricants, plus the air the tubes.

If you don't have scales, go to this website http://weightweenies.starbike.com/listings.php and search for every component part, make a list and get a calculator to tell you the aggregate score. Don't forget to allow for the air in the tyres, but you can knock 3 grammes off per valve cap, and don't include the pedals. You may also legitimately discount the weight of any decals or transfers.

This method will still work if your bike weighs less than 5kg. Of course, you'll have to weigh the bike first to see whether it will work.

Go to your nearest vets and put your bike on their big scales.... I used to weigh myself every time we took the cat but they've put a notice up saying 'for pets only' [didnt think they'd noticed].

I upend the bicycle onto the back wheel, front wheel in the air and get it as close as possible to balancing. Probably easier to just weigh yourself holding the bike and without though.

do what i did go and buy a set of luggage scales that hang of a joist in the garage and then support bike via supplied strap and watch the dial to see result..... simples

Do you know an Angler? I use my Fishing scales, accurate to less than an ounce (useful for my fishing )whereas bathroom scales?
