It really isn't! Lots and lots of people do way more than that.
Seems like a lot on here ride about once a fortnight. I will ride 20 or 21 days. 95 minutes on Zwift is about 60 kms so 400 km weeks really aren't too difficult.

Are you riding a lot more on turbo than outdoors then? I'm not anti turbo, I use it when weather grim but for me I way prefer to ride outside.
As I said, I know someone who is in a Zwift league or whatever and rides on it 5-6 days a week even if weather lovely. Now personally I think that's madness but each to their own. The thought of slogging away indoors on a summers afternoon or even a lovely day now(like today) seems crazy.

Anyone who does cycle outdoors regularly might be interested to know that Week 1 of the 2026 edition of the ‘3 x 30min rides x 52 weeks’ challenge will start on Monday 29th December – and will run through until Sunday 4th January 2026.

If you do three outdoor rides of over 30 minutes on at least two separate days in Week 1 then please post the details of your rides in Week 1 of the challenge.

The thread for the 2026 challenge is here:

Please read the rules of the challenge – and sign-up for it. If you have any queries, please post them in the new challenge thread.

That im no spring chicken has been more evident this year and the old body been giving me notice not to over do it...On longer rides i can start aching here and there but hey ho could be worse and im pleased that i can still stomp up some steep hillls. Im finding shorter rides are better for me, ones that give me a good workout with lots of hills and arrive home feeling fine rather than ive had a good kicking! :okay:

It was great ! More (Strava) miles than last year at 1300+ so far……but I’d like to do still more. And I really enjoyed getting involved in the Half Century Challenge right here - that’s encouraged me to ride during ‘Winter’ when absolutely I normally wouldn’t 👍

In saying that - I also have ‘many’ BMX “hooning around” miles that weren’t logged. And I’ve walked 1500 miles so far this year with my dog - which I love: and has eaten up quite some hours.

Not enough time and energy in the day to do it all……👌

Pretty good I would say.

I bought a new bike Dec 24 and it took us both a couple of months to love each other..but we do now🤣

Cycled Silloth to South Shields Hadrian's Cycleway trip over 3 days which was longest contiguous day mileage.

Cycled 73 miles close to my 70th birthday
Tried EMTB a couple of times...definitely doing more of that.

And 3000 or so other miles combination of few hours out and full day with others .

Yorkshire to Edinburgh via Coasts and Castles all planned out for Spring

Flirted with a plan for LeJog...probably not .

Rubbish, just 3 rides feeling very knackered early part of the year - eventual diagnosis of Leukaemia being the cause.

Hopefully 2026 will be better.

How are you doing in yourself ?

Merry Christmas 🌲🦌⭐️

I'd rather be outside, but once the clocks change it's dark when I get home, and living semi-rurally, I won't ride in the dark as it's too dangerous, and the weather has been rubbish most weekends in Jan, Feb, Nov and Dec, so again ride inside instead. Not prepared to take a risk if it's possibly icy as too many untreated roads that sit in the shade all day at this time of year too.

Zwift can be very social if you embrace that side of it

You'll enjoy the coast and castles route. Did it with a group of mates and thoroughly enjoyed it. Plenty of photo opportunities, a few draggy climbs as well. Looking at doing lejog myself, sadly I suspect it will be 2027 as moving house next year. Will probably be solo with a few mates catching me up at various stages.

Starting the year recovering from a serious hand injury meant I couldn't ride outside for some time. And only for short periods on the turbo trainer.

As a result plans were changed, meaning no London-Edinburgh-London (I volunteered instead) and no racing until the autumn. Instead I trained as a BC accredited race marshal, which meant I was standing with my lollipop at races.

The highlight was taking part in an organised tour of Brittany. However, family / work / illness / a major eye injury meant I only did one track race evening - although I did get a win.

Just under 5,000 miles covered with a few days left, which is my lowest total for years. I've got to do another 96 miles to reach the 5K and should do so.
