A big fat 0. I was starting to worry by about #6 that I might spoil things by fluking one right, but no, I managed to maintain my perfect score.

I'll be the first to put my head above the parapet and say;

  • We are full and that is the world as a whole. I cannot remember the stat but it used to be that we would need two Planet Earths to sustain current world population growth and consumption.
  • We don't need more people to pay for pensions as it will make the problem 4 and 10 fold worse for future generations. This seems to be the main excuse given.
  • Everything should be based upon sustainability rather than unfettered growth and that means one child.
  • Did I mention that this planet is overpopulated? But it never seems to be talked about by the talking heads.
I used to poo poo anything to do with the green agenda but now feel it is the most important thing of all. I'm just not very good at articulating it, see bullets points above

The whole issue (imho) puts both Labour and the Tories in a very difficult position:

For the Tories, they have to be seen to
a) Apologise for not bringing the figures down
b) Be seen to support the idea of responsible immigration policies
c) Not do this in a way which is perceived as being racist

Labour have to
a) Slam the Tories for not bringing figures down
b) Support the idea of responsible immigration policies
c) Not do this in a way which is perceived as being racist
d) Not alienate the knee-jerk reaction of many on the left that all immigration is good and should be seen to be good.

Neither is able to admit that
a) while immigration may bring many advantages, it also comes with many disadvantages.
b) Not all immigrants are intelligent, hard-working go-getters that the country will benefit from having here.

Hence the interest for some folk (not me though) in UKIP (and the Libdems have lost all interest and trust)

As a blogger from the Spectator put it after Rochester:

"Of course it’s not necessarily racist to be concerned by immigration, it’s just that all racists are concerned by these matters. Worse, the dreaded mainstream parties are pandering to the lowest common denominator they can possibly find. This, not anything else, is the real race to the bottom in British politics today."

Elephants in rooms.

There is nothing racist about the fact that this planet is overpopulated and that population is rising exponentially quickly.

Sustainability rather than unfettered growth and consumption is what everyone should be talking about.

The Chinese were and are derided about their one child policy. I think it is something that should be implemented globally. They have and had the right idea although not done in a terribly nice way.

What puzzles me is why this country with its decaying health system, crap weather and chronic shortage of jobs offering full time employment is such a magnet to the economic refugees of Europe and the Third World.
