I've been away with colleagues in the past, and probably will do again, but with your boss?
That's going a little far IMHO.
There was a time when I thought the same, in both directions, particularly when there was a significant 'gap' in 'status' between 'boss' and 'bossed' but that isn't the case here.
It isn't really a master/servant relationship. He is the colleague who happens to be my line manager, approves my expenses, "signs my leave forms", etc.. We are complimentary roles not adversarial ones, he's a 'senior' director, I'm a 'junior' one. Works well for both of us.
And maybe the folk we manage think we are arses....
