I have fond memories of school holidays cycling in the Wolds more than 50 years ago and at the risk of being disillusioned I will return for a few days in early August

What are the must go and should avoid areas?

Is the Humber Bridge a pleasant experience or is the traffic overwhelming?

Is the road to Spurn Point rideable on 23/25mm tyres?

The Humber Bridge is fine, as there's a shared use path available along the side.

Yorkshire is always a pleasure to cycle in, and I've always found the back roads to be very quiet. No idea about Spurn Point though.

Spurn point is ok on those tyres IMO. It's great at the tip on a sunny day.

Spurn point has been breached and gets cut off by the tide. You need some local knowledge.

In Hull there is a free museum called Street Scene with a nice little bike museum. It is next door to the William Wilberforce museum, which is also free. Close by is The Deep which is worth a visit.

The old town in Hull is nice to walk round and have a coffee.

Beverley is a nice town to visit as is Beverley minster.

V helpful responses, Thankyou. I am wondering if the Yorkshire Wolds route is slicks friendly. At the moment the toughest tyre in my stock is the Schwalbe Durano Plus Should I fit some Marathons?

Yes, I remember Beverley - a place full of characters on race day and well worth a visit.

I ride the Wolds on slicks with no problems. the thing to watch out for is gravel on some of the narrow back roads, I am always amazed at the lack of traffic, gear wise be prepared for some tough uphill sections.

I ride in the Yorkshire Wolds, and have noticed the nice weather has brought out some wannabe rally drivers and boy (and girl) racers lately.

There aren't many of them about, but keep an eye out (you only need a collision with one).

You get the same in the Wolds south of the river. Although to be fair, last time I was cycling in the Linconshire wolds, I passed a van lot of motorcyclists that'd stopped to sweep all the gravel from the roads and I guess they were doing the rounds. In their interests, but I'm not moaning if they sweep up the bottom of 35mph+ decents.

You ride on the shared footpaths on Humber Bridge, so no traffic  but if its a nice day there will be a few pedestrians.
The ride to Spurn via Sunk Island is very nice, unless the weather is really bleak. Haven't been down there since the tidal surge washed the road away last year, so not sure how far you can get, but prior to that the 'track' on the final stretch was pretty tough on any bike with sand drifts in places

As well as gravel you may find that some of the back roads are not well maintained - only really an issue if you are descending quickly and suddenly start hitting potholes.

Did you ride yet - Wednesday looks wet :rain:if you've not gone yet
Looks like I'm getting wet on the commute tomorrow, but cant be any wetter than on the Big G  Wonder if the Big G reunion will be drier?
Do you use the new cycle path to Beverley much Craig? I've used it once & much safer than the road.
