Hybrid question - are the gears more road orientated?

This may well be the most stupid question... Here goes with hybrids are the gears more road orientated ??

Yes

Although it depends....

Some have identical gearing to road bikes, most have MTB systems.

My Trek 7500 has lower ranges than my Trek road...

As mentioned above- it depends on the bike itself, some are some aren't- did you have a specific bike in mind?

Tend to have higher gears than mountain bikes and lower gears than road bikes.

Just a general question as sometimes I find the mtb a slog and the road bike a bit uncomfortable I thought if the hybrid was geared more road wise. I should add one !! That you for your advise !!

The tyres will make more difference. Slicks on the MTB will make it much better on road.

I would suggest looking at your bike fit on the road bike if you're finding it uncomfortable.
Maybe check out getting properly fitted for it and save yourself a few hundred over a new bike?

I've been fitted just core that I'm working on looking for more a commuter style I've fitted bontrager cruiser tyres on the mtb it's better I just cannot find the correct gear either a bit high or low it's 27 speed, really old rock hopper fs steel

My hybrid gives me a much bigger range of gears than than the road bike (triple over a compact double)
