Yup - they're cracking hotels really. Bike in room (not that I've taken advantage yet); spacious rooms - some brilliant family rooms; clean and tidy; and the breakfast is good quality, with plenty of it.

We often do road trips with the kids and stop in Premier Inns en route to break the journey - the kids love them!

A bit characterless but comfortable and adequate - and there's always a pub.
Surprisingly (as it's owned by Whitbread I think), not always but mostly. Town/city centre ones sometimes seem to open with ground-floor cafe/restaurant units that they try to let. I don't know if it's limited to places where they already own several pubs and it might be considered monopolistic.

No problem taking a bike into the room during this year's Ride London. Basically another ibis-style option IMO but with more clarity/consistency about bikes.

Stayed in a couple earlier this year with bikes. They locked our bikes up in rooms with 24 hr CCTV on them and it wasn't a problem or inconvenience for them to make room (four bikes).

Any Travelodge I have used in the UK has been bike friendly too. Don't know what the official policy is, but they've always let me take my bike to my room.
Premier Inns are much nicer hotels, but the pricing difference reflects that.

Both Travelodge and Premier have great bike policies. In France you have Mercure and Ibis who are happy to take bikes.

I'd have slightly more time for Premier if I'd not wasted nine months of my life designing one.

Good to know but as usual, ok on price if there are two or more but the single travellor is still penalised. Hostels still have no competition for the lone rider.

That was at the back of my mind. Used to go away for a few days on my own. Always unfair that people on their own have to pay this silly "Single supplement" for hotels.

what I like is the rooms are all very similar so those who usually don't sleep well on 1st night in places , generally don't have that issue. doesn't affect me but does mrs Subaqua. she loves em for that reason.

Holiday Inn were also great when i rocked up with a filthy mountainbike. let me use a hose to clean it and then stored it in a secure room overnight for the 3 days we stopped there.
