A few weeks ago, Bollo tried to convince me to ride a different route into work. For the benefit of locals, this meant foregoing the A3090 to take Port Lane up into Oliver's Battery and on to Winchester.
For the past couple of weeks, therefore, I have been following Bol's advice. And a jolly nice route it is today.
But then we come to today. Pouring it down as I'm sure it was everywhere, and I'm riding down Port Lane. Something blocks my path - in fact, it blocks the whole road. Cars are turning around and retreating the way they came.
It's a puddle, but it covers the road from verge to verge and beyond. It is an interesting shade of brown and about half a foot deep. It runs for at least thirty foot.
I pick up speed and sail past the cars, charging through the murky depths. Lifting my legs only at the deepest part I throw a cheerful wave to the shiny 4x4s with their tails between their wheels as I reach the other side, and peddle on home.
So Bollo, I blame you entirely for the best fun I've had this week. Ta muchly!
