She thought she would turn at you and straddle the white line until she got enough speed up to be clear. She didn't care.

Had the same thing this morning, but I was doing over 30 at the time so moved across into the cycle lane to make sure I was properly in front and then took the lane with a stare back at the driver.

Like the 'its a bike, I must overtake' brigade, some drivers sometimes don't bother to judge speed, just see a 'bike' and judge their movements on that.

I think there is some truth to that. To not get SMIDSY'd you have to stand out and look odd. Hi-viz yellow used to do that but has become so common its effectiveness must have been reduced. How much by ? I'll leave that question to the men in white coats.
How about disguising your bike as a car? A half decent DIYer should be able to rig something up with a bit of plywood and some silver spray on paint

i like this 'idea' that drivers always see cars... i'm not convinced theres much difference in the ability to see bikes compared to cars..

unless its just my ruddy car that has an invisibility cloak

The driver in the car did see you. Just another stupid impatient car driver that thinks they have more rights than other road users

Another likely answer is she didn't really care, she saw you and judged she could pull out whilst keeping far enough right to avoid hitting you. Plain impatience and not giving a stuff if she shoots you up.

My interpretation as well, had it happen to me a couple of times .

They see you and reckon that by staying a bit further out you will be ok but unfortunately they do not realize how fast you are traveling, the "Your a bike how much room do you need " mentality strikes again.

doesnt matter if she "didnt see you" as you ment to look both ways before moving into the oppersite lane of the road before moving out,so thats a piss poor excuse tbh.

Unless you blacked out ninja monkey in the dark then id give her the excuse but that wasnt one of those times.

eyes are for looking ...though i might add also can be used for looking in the glove box while moving out into road...(second time this week)
