Thankfully the guy who overtook me twice in the same week seems to have given up now. I can get some miles in over the winter and teach him a lesson in the spring.

The bike shed at work is the same as in the summer though, all four of us ride pretty much all year round.

Nope, needs must,it costs too much to run a car and i only have 6 miles to ride each way so i am faster aswell ! Once the Mountain bike is fixed then i will use that when the white stuff comes !

Feh.

This rain is too bloody much for me (or not so much the rain as the effect it has on the local vegetation (washing large parts of it into my path where they lay partially submerged) and upon local motorists, who have collectively gone f***ing bonkers. I've surrendered and gone with the Brompton to Crewe, and train all the way to Manchester 'til it lets up.

Can't speak for the others who've provoked your ire by deciding not to ride, but I'd sooner pull my own teeth that drive in to town, personally.

In the summer my main route, the A21 some-days resembles the Peleton from the TdeF. Now it's colder, wetter and windier, yes much less... only the hardcore left it seems

I don't think the season affects the staff at one of my jobs, it's an environment centre, so pretty much everyone cycles or walks in.

And the other job - well, both of us cycle, we pretty much have to, being a cycling magazine;). The building we have an office in seems to peak at about 4 or 5 cycling, according to the bike shed, so I'll see how that goes...

I don't really have a summer crew to disappear. There's just me and an old lady who cross paths every morning, winter and summer. S'funny that my route to work is part of the NCN.

I haven't noticed a significant drop on the road, and when I'm at the office the other day I noticed recently that there was a stand without bikes attached so might be slightly fewer but its still running at near capacity most of the time.

+1 same boat for me as well, my wonderful wife has passed her car test this year, we are a 1 car family and she has the kids...so...i'm on the bike full time right the way through the winter this year.

The bike racks at work are now emptier and I no longer struggle to find a place. However, the bikes on the morning train do not seem to have reduced much. We had 5 bikes yesterday morning in a space made for 3 and tonight, all 12 spaces on the train were occupied. Someone is still using the bike.

yes, if its a bit blowy or if theres heavy rain when i'm riding in it sometimes crosses my mind...hmm bet i won't see him this morning... I would say i normally cross paths with 6 and overtake 3 in good weather, however lately that is down to 3 and 2.

Anyone who is cracking on through the bad weather and winter I respect and we will get through it

Yep…that’ll be me…I haven’t ridden Chitty in since last Monday!!!!, for all the wrong reasons.

Last week I had issues with the loud bike and had to ride that in to be sorted , then re-sorted…etc.

This week I’ve not managed a single ride as I was off today, had to take the car out to Chertsey on Tuesday and Chitty was in the office on Monday (over the weekend…after last weeks fiasco), so took the loud bike in then.

Doesn’t feel like I’ve missed much though, the wind nearly blew me off the loud bike as I pootled around the place today and a big branch fell on my head at the lights:sad: (thank god for crash helmets)

I cant wait to ride Chitty again... so will plan to leave the loud bike in the office garage over the weekend so that we can ride tomorrow/Friday and Monday (never done a Monday morning before…not for as long as I can recall)

I am so suffering “Chitty withdrawal”

Forgot to add that our motorised brothers and sisters do seem significantly grumpier recently.
