I say it lots to my girlfriend and our kids and I mean it every time. I've just had the most terrible weekend of my life and when I first had the chance I phoned my family to tell them all how important they are to me and that I love them very much. Some people will never be able to say these things ever again, so take the opportunity to do it when you can.

OK the truth is I tell her I love her several times a day and it is always the last thing I say to her before we go to sleep.

Several times a day the only problem being she's never there when I say it . Oh and Buggi "I love you " there does that make you feel better.

I should have put the 'I don't remember the last time', but I actually listed 'less than once a day', on account of... I say 'I love you, puppy!' to my dog quite a lot. ...That counts, right?

I don't really have anybody left to say it to, other than my sisters I suppose, but we don't really do that.

I last said it my dying mum at 2 am on Christmas Day. She was heavily sedated so she probably didn't hear me but I wanted to say it while I still could.

I needed a break because I'd been at her bedside for 14 hours and had 10 hours more before my sister was coming back to take my place so I went for a walk in the hospital grounds. It was a beautiful, bitter winter night, -12 degrees.

The sky was clear and I could see thousands of stars twinkling above me. I took out my phone and sent text messages to my ex and her daughter telling them that I loved them. I wiped away my tears and went back inside to continue my Christmas vigil ...
