Thanks to all you CycleChat members the forum has become a great success and we are now one of the busiest cycling forums in the UK!!

Now I'd like you guys to help get our new forums moving.

If you're a geek, gardener, cook, entrepreneur or photographer please pop over to the new forums and help us create some more great communities for everyone to enjoy. Your posts and threads will encourage new members to join and keep Google crawling back for more.

If you're social media savvy and can use the new-fangled Facetweeter things then please invite any enthusiasts you know who are into technology and science, gardening, food and cooking, growing their business and taking and making photos.

There are handy links at the top of every page and your CycleChat login details work on all of the forums so you can easily hop from one to the other without having to register; just login with your CC credentials and get posting. :addict:

And don't forget, if you've got a thread in CycleChat that would work on one of our other forums, please post there too so we can get new members interested.

Keep up the great work.

Thanks,
Shaun

Was thinking the other day that it would be great if the "what's new" page showed the latest posts from all the forums on an opt-in basis!

Yeah, that would be quite cool - but unfortunately not possible. The Single Sign On helps though as once you're logged in at each one you should stay logged in providing you flip between them regularly enough, and they all have the same common header links to make that part a bit easier.
I've just been into the gardening one to post a question and it's blocked by Virgin's filter. Dunno why. So I passworded through and went to start a thread, and it only gives me an option of posting a poll rather than the normal box to type into.
Hmmm ... that's odd. Your account profile seems to be set-up okay, but it should behave just the same as CC - were you using a computer or a mobile device?

Cheers,
Shaun

It'll probably help if I give you all some background info too.

CycleChat is currently a hobby site. I've built it in my spare time and funded it with my self-employed income (latterly with self-generated advertising revenue).

As it grows it needs more time spending on it and early last year it became apparent that I would need to give proper consideration to running it full-time; turning it from a hobby into a business.

I'm quite excited by the prospect and after doing some research and putting a plan together, I spent most of last year working away in the background to pave the way for this future transition. Simplifying the operation; setting up a limited company; creating the new sites; commissioning the new server; building a new technical framework; and creating new revenue streams (that don't impact on everyone's day-to-day use of the forums).

It's been hard work and is the reason I haven't been as active on CycleChat this past year - but it's been well worth it and we're now in a great position with everything set-up for when the time comes to make the move.

So why do I need your help?

Well the one thing I don't have a lot of is time - this is where your help will be invaluable.

If you can visit and use the other forums as part of your CycleChat routine; tell family and friends about the new sites; invite people you know who could help us build them - that would be fantastic, and it will bring the goal of running CycleChat full-time much closer.

Thanks,
Shaun
