I don't really buy the 'pass close' because you kind of can argument. Driving in London is er..'challenging' at times, but even at the most difficult and congested traffic situations it really is possible with just a little patience combined with good postioning to give cyclists more than enough room.

I don't have an issue with people passing close when it's at low speed and sensible, afterall this is London and it's busy - a bit of give and take needed. I do have an issue with a cabbie getting upset because I'm in his way and stopping him changing lanes, so rather than wait he decides to accellerate past in a right hand filter lane in order to dive in front of me into a lefthand 'straight ahead' lane.

My arguement is this, you get involved in a row, whatever small part you think you played in it - you both look foolish. Your description of the incident kind of reminds me of this scene from Monty Python,

You hit a vehicle I would say to get a reaction, you got a nasty and over the top reaction to be sure, may I therefore suggest as one mature person to another that you don't hit cars?

Yeah I'll give you that one, I hit it because he was being a nob and driving like an idiot. Maybe next time he'll think twice about it.

As for the PCO may I repeat my other (well worn) mantra - it now reports to the ELECTED mayor via TFL. You want change in the way the PCO operates in relation to driver complaints concerning driving standards - he's your man!

I'm not even going to entertain this idea. I have better things to do.

p.s Joebe. If you ride down Northumberland Ave then along the river to Tower Hill, you probably pass me every morning heading in the opposite direction.

If you ride in on Doris, ill keep my eyes open.

I certainly do, though time varies from 8 thro to 10 depending on whether I'm taking the kids to school. Doris is still out in the winter, looking a bit weathered mind.

Sigma got onto Jim Walker, who got onto DeRosa, who put a replacement frame together (as they didn't make that one anymore) FOC even though it was out of the rather short warranty period (I was ready to start arguing about warranty periods and fir for purpose, but no need!!). It took a few months to sort out but Spawn of Doris is up and running again.

That's her in my signature, though the Dia Compe tyres have gone as they wore out too quickly, to be replaced by some sensible Michelins. Oh and to horns gone after I got abuse for putting such a thing on a DeRosa.
