Think that's the first time I can remember...!

Weather might have had something to do with it. I'm no Jens Voigt but it was slightly wet (LOL) and a bit of a head wind.

I rode up on to the Itchen Bridge and a guy was waiting to ride out from the drop kerb just past the bus stop. He said something to me but I didn't hear (I'm a bit deaf these days). Most of the way up I look around and realise he's right on my rear wheel, proper draft position.

He shouted out something about my rear light being on, I did try to reply that its deliberate (the weather) but all that happened was an exhausted stutter and a load of flem came up.

Its been a hard week at work and I took out my aggression on the incline. I feel knackered, in fact knackered ALL week!

I got drafted by a chap on a carbon road bike yestrday, no rucksack, no panniers - me, fixed 77" and panniers at about 24 mph over about a mile. I let on as I passed, expected the draft as I was running out of RPM

I got a thanks once after providing shelter for another rider along CS7. Made me smile as not only is drafting a sign the draftee needs to MTFU I think it's the first time someone has thought I make a decent windbreak! My "compact" size doesn't offer much protection normally :-)

You might be compact, but those broad shoulders leave quite a vacuum behind them. ;)

Anyone drafting me automatically gets some MTFU, and a clue, especially when it is into a monster headwind.

I'm quite big. Broad shoulders according to some (though I don't see it myself). I'm a tiny bit over 6 foot 2, nearly 15 stone. No fat on me legs though I have as good belly. Had a full 20L pannier bag on too.

Bad news!

Getting drafted must be awful.

A small silver lining for your cloud is that the conflict in Vietnam ended several decades ago, so you're unlikely to go anywhere too nasty.

I hope this helps.

Drafting benefit is nearer zero uphill tough 'chasing the hare' aspect of it certainly helps.I slowed 3 yards behind someone for a short breather today who was quick to insistently waved me on.Other cyclists are a good reminder that I am meant to be a leisure rider.

I nearly bet my personal best with very little effort after enjoying sitting in some guys slipstream t'other week. When we both stopped at the lights, was absolutely drenched in sweat, and I guess I'd averaged 20mph+ for around 7 miles or so. I felt no guilt, as a few weeks previously, he'd sat on my ass all the way.

I was given a book for Xmas, "The Cycling Miscellany". It's full of obscure facts.....and great quotes such as this one by Jean Bobet.

‘The wheelsucker is full-time vermin, a rat in perpetuity. The rat is invisible, hidden, non-existent until 100 metres from the finish, when he suddenly heaves himself into action, his one and only effort, under – if not up – the noses of those who have built up and led the race over many, many kilometres. Wherever you went, the wheelsucker was regarded as excrement. He still is, I’m told.’
