Just thought I'd mention it for the few people who don't inhabit both areas of the forum or don't regularly get up early.

Here in the Midlands only the cars were icy this morning with one or two small spots of ice in obvious places - but having popped into the commuting section of the forum a few people had encountered icy roads,

so just wanting to encourage people to take care, winter is upon us, seemingly having plotted with autumn to kill summer

The wife actually phoned work this morning to make sure I'd arrived safely

She was amazed when she got up to find the car still outside and her nutter of a husband had cycled to work.

So I'm with Black sheep on this one, take care.

Thanks for the heads up. But it's been icy round here for a while now.

In fact, this weekend there were 50 vehicles reported off the road in the 'county' south of Oslo. It's not just Brits that get caught off guard every winter!

Yep, very thoughtful Black Sheep.

I read of two broken collarbones and quite a few offs at the Eureka 200 yesterday when ice caught folk out.

Came off this morning after hitting black ice. I was almost stationary at the time but still managed to completely dislocate a finger! Thanks to the kind couple who phoned for an ambulance and are looking after my bike and thanks to all at A&E for all their help.

Let's be careful folks
:B) :cold:

Thanks for the warning Black Sheep. Some of the people in P&L do actually ride bicycles as well. Perhaps you should let them know?

I never go in there, too scary!

Was riding some XC the other week in the lake District. The wooden boardwalks were lethal, sheet ice covering them!

That sounds a little uncomfortable. Hope it doesn't give you too much grief.
Thanks for the concern. Had an Xray to check for splintered bones then the medic got me to lean back while he pulled it back into position. Got to see a plastic surgeon tomorrow to check for nerve damage but I'm sure it will be fine. Wish I had taken a photo as it was spectacular to look at.
