Stephen, i see. OK.

Road rider, sorry that happened to you. Was it all adequately resolved?
Yeah, luckily I tried to log on to my phone account and couldn't, so I phoned Vodafone and they informed me that a phone was delivered in my name in Scotland and that my account had been hacked. But fortunately I called to query the problem just as it happened. So I didn't incur any charges. Vodafone were great to be fair, they blocked the phone and closed my account and helped me set up a more secure one for the future.
So it all ended ok, luckily for me.
Your package does sound like a mistake. Just call the relevant phone company and they will help you I'm sure.

Contact the phone company and get it checked. Seriously consider getting your credit record checked to see if anything else has been taken out in your name. Contact your bank, and any company you hold a credit card or store card with and check all recent charges.
Don't panic but get ahead of this just in case.

I've been done twice, and neither me or my bank can work out how. I now pay Experian to monitor my name and credit, and (touch wood) nothing has happened since.

Thanks rocky.
My concern is what else has been going on that I don't know about. Anything else ordered under my name but delivered t another address? Any one have ideas if I should contact Action Fraud?

In between here and there
I have accounts with Experian, Equifax and Call credit and get an email every time anything happens to my account even a new search.

That's where I would start, if they have done the phone thing, there is a chance they have done other stuff. Payday loans are really susceptible, I have had at least five searches squashed.

In the last 3 months I have had grovelling emails from two companies, one being Adobe apologising that their payment DB had been hacked http://www.zdnet.com/find-out-if-your-data-was-leaked-in-the-adobe-hack-7000023065/

In Royal Mail we where warned about items being ordered and delivered with fake details. The person waits on the doorstep of the address and as the courier, or postman, pulls up in a van they strike up a conversation that goes along the line of you have just caught them as they are going out. They may even have keys by the door so it looks like they are locking it, you then give them the item in the street. It tends to be mobile phones or foreign cash sent via Special Delivery.
Now, this may have nothing to do with this but just a tip for the future.

Having worked in a call centre that sold mobile phones. The payoff for the seller happens what ever is done with the phone
First scenario -- Phone is sent to the customer (don't forget they already have you name and address, DOB etc) You don't do anything about it. Seller gets the commision from the phone company about £200-£250 depending on the contract. Customer get nasty bill
Second scenario -- Phone is sent to the customer. Seller gets the commision from the phone company, Customer phones the phone company up contract gets sorted after a lot of hard work by the customer.
Winner in both is the call center, loser is alway the customer.

Classic33, none of those areas. But not too far away either. Will PM you.
I think I know the company. Possibly some of the people involved, Personal mobile numbers for some.
If thats the case, they will have you on record as asking for it. They'll "not accept any return from you". You will have to prove that it wasn't you & the police will not be able to get involved.

Off topic slightly, but I've had two accounts, with the same bank, different branches, each d with £250,000 cash! The account details all match mine, name, DOB, address. But in order to withdraw any money I need the books that go with the accounts.

Probably just a name mistake. ID theft would include your bank details, but more than that; you wouldn't know much about the ID theft until the bills were left unpaid after an amount of time.
People don't commit this kind of crime then have the goods sent to the person. They will use your details, but have a different delivery address.
This happened to me a couple of years ago with a smartphone. My DD, name etc, but delivery address in Scotland.
Well, I had somebody use my details to order an Olympus digital camera and it ended up being delivered to me instead!

I got in touch with the bank and the company who sent the camera and it turned out that a couple of companies had rejected orders because their security systems picked up that the delivery address was wrong (somewhere in mainland europe). The 3rd company noticed that the address was wrong but decided to just substitute my address for the foreign one!!!

(I was all set to send the camera back but decided that I rather liked it. I checked several online reviews and decided to keep it so I cancelled the original card and transaction and paid for it with my new card when it came!)
