We used to do this deliberately to other instructors when teaching at schools - tilting saddles, lifting or dropping them, moving them forward or back - only slightly, but just enough to make it feel "wrong"

after about 5km, I will know .... when you move the saddle, you use your muscles differently

try dropping your saddle by an inch or two .... ride 5-10km and your knees and thighs will feel strain

My winter bike is a Surly LHT .... total different geometry to my summer bike commuter (S-Works)

if I ride my S-Works most days, then hop onto the Surly, my legs take a different strain, especially on longer distances

Oh yes I would: once I forgot I had moved the saddle for something, then wondered why my legs were killing me.

I left my saddle off one day and didn't notice till I stopped at the cafe and had to get two blokes to hold the bike while another three helped prize me off it.

It was a bit of a relief to discover I hadn't been constipated after all, I can tell you.
So you rode without a saddle? :shy:
