Do I need to get the spray plaster out?
My mummy got me this basket when I first started riding, which I found to be totally crap for anything (didn't try using it as a crumple zone thingy tho) http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_898923_langId_-1_categoryId_236255

Then when I got Panniers because "littles" boot is woefully small they had a 3 for 2 at Halfrods on pumps luggage & locks, I had purchased a pump & a pannier and then the man told me I could get something free so I chose the basket to match the pannier and tis wonderful and useful unlike the stylish but crap wicker one!

Thats nice. I've got a similar one on my folding bike that uses a click fix mounting. Its fabric though, woudn't be any good in a life threatening crash situation.

You'd have to have been going some to cause a deceleration injury in the circumstances you describe. Deceleration injuries are typical of high speed impacts or falls from significant heights.

I was gong at a fair lick!

A bar end - and a high wall - helped save me in my recent comedy electric bike 'crash'.

Trundling along a rutted path the front wheel cannoned off a smooth rock sending me left towards the wall.

The left bar end stopped the handlebar from digging into the wall which helped me maintain some control.

My left shoulder clouted the wall and I managed to come to an ungainly halt.

Had the wall been lower, I'm fairly sure I would have gone over it.

Barely a scrape on the bar end, so I can recommend Ergon as being a good and sturdy make.
